Sizzling Stone Grill in City Square, Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Do not eat here if you are very very hungry. This restaurant is designed for those people who are willing to wait not of the service time but because of the time that you will wait for it to cook which in this case is in the very front of your eyes. From the very name of the restaurant it already says there what you could expect of it. Your meat or viand is served raw then a very hot stone grill comes with it where you could see your meat being cooked. It took us a long time (20 minutes) to cook the meat and you could see that there is blood oozing out of it. Quite not appetising for me. Nonetheless what I love the most is their fried rice which has a lot of garlic in it. But the viand is just so so for me.

Waiting for it to cook

Chicken Skews and their to die for Fried Rice

So if you ask me if I would return here or not? Uhm probably yes but when I am not hungry.

Brunch in Eight Lido (Johor Bahru, Malaysia)

Since we have nothing to do this day. We decided to avail our free meal in eight lido. During valentine’s day a lot of people got mad with the poor service and the long waiting time. They said that this is because of the lack of planning for this was their first big event. To compensate with the customers, they gave free meals (anything on the menu) that I think is quite decent for them to do.

Garden dining experience- but it was too hot hence too beautiful

Spanish Breakfast set: Not your ordinary breakfast set. Very surprised with the taste and combination of these foods

Laid back style of dining where friends can talk casually

American Breakfast set: Typical american meal (healthy hearty meal)

Three Layers of Chocolate Chip Blueberry Pancake -one of the best I tasted! Too bad the ice-cream fell off as the waiter serve it

Food was great. It was not your ordinary meal and the price was just around RM20-30 per meal. They also serve freshly squeezed orange juice. For me the food that Eight Lido serve is more on healthy complete meal that is very appetising that one would want to return. The Chocolate Chip Blueberry pancake is really to die for. Every layer is actually so chocolatey that I would want to eat another set. Also the blueberry complements the taste of the pancakes.
Despite the mess that they have conveyed during Valentine’s day they made up for the free meal which they provided us. So yes. I would return to Eight Lido again.
Cost: Free :-)

Hari Raya Celebration

Hari Raya is a significant holiday which is celebrated all throughout the globe by Muslim people. It marks the end of Ramadan which is the Islamic holy month of fasting. Since I am working in a Muslim country (Malaysia) I am new with this kind of culture. In the Philippines we also have this for Muslim people but this is the first time that I have encountered it first hand. Meaning to say the people around me who practise this.

According to my colleague (Che Omar) September is not only a fasting month to them which involves eating meals before 5.30am and after 6:00pm if I am not mistaken . One should also say sorry to those who they have hurt and give thanks to Allah. It also teaches a Muslim to stay away from worldly desires and to focus entirely on the Lord and thank Him for his blessings

Azila, Stefanie's (my housemate) colleague under marketing, invited us to their house for a dinner. She said that it is a small party of gathering to give thanks to her workmates by having a feast. So who could say no to food. Being a food junky I tag along with them.

Waiting for Victor to pick us up. Me and my housemate Ritchie

Malays, Chinese, Indonesian and Filipinos having fun.
Time passed by with laughter and stories that overwhelmed each and everyone of us. Respect and understanding is the key to a good relationship no matter what race, colour or ethnicity you are. I learned during my 4 months and so of staying here that you can find something common in everyone no matter what. You just have to talk, listen, decipher and be open-minded. The more you listen to them the more you engage with their life. One must appreciate and not surmise.

with the beautiful Fizah (correct me), Azila's pretty baby and the kids!

Happiness all over
