Rosmarino , JB, Malaysia

I have been eating in Rosmarino for quite a number of times already since I came to Malaysia. We usually dine here during the birthdays of our fellow Filipino friends as well as our local colleagues. During my first time I find all the foods in their menu expensive but when I tasted it I now know why it was. Every penny is worth it for you can have a taste of what other restaurants can seldom give and that is quality. My colleagues and friends said that the price is ok for everything was for sharing and they have big serving size. Alas! They really do have big serving sizes which is good for 2 to 3 people.

Renesh and I went to this place with a reservation because a lot of people come here to eat even though it is a weekday. His bday is near so I decided to go to this place since their food and ambiance is great and it is a good place to talk after a long day of work.

What I like the most is their thin crust pizza. You can really taste all the ingredients in it, all have peaky taste but all goes in harmony and compliments each other's taste. For their pasta, it was my first time to eat pasta with raw egg with it. It makes the pasta creamy in my opinion and adds a certain taste.

I do not know about who or what is the origin of the Chef but he or she and his or her team is really doing a great job. Although serving is slow, it is really worth waiting for, for everything they serve is cooked to perfection. I may not be a perfect person to ask about Italian Restaurants but in my opinion their food is worth coming back for.

Do you like my red lips? :-)
I will keep on coming back here because of the ambience and the food. It's a really good place for a date and a place to celebrate a special day with your loved-one and friends but if you are just plain rich (haha- because for me I would only dine here for special occasion since I am thrifty) then you are lucky for you can dine here everyday. I would if I could. :-)

SIAL Food Convention, World Trade Center Manila, Philippines

It was my first time going to a convention for it was part of my work. Supposedly my workmates would also come but due to lack of time (for they were very busy) they just asked me to come and check out what is happening so I could get to know some of the other players as well in the food industry.

An entrance fee of P350 must be paid and they have given me an ID and a bag where I put the pamphlets and things which I have bought inside. Most of the companies in the event ranges from Food Ingredients company to end-use market. In addition to this it was not only those companies which you could find here in the Philippines but also from other Asian Countries, most of which are from China and Korea. Wine companies could also be found in this event, but I did not really go into their booth since this is not my main target. My main target is to learn more on the food industry and mainly more on some more innovation which would help me think outside of the box.

What I like the most about the Convention is there is a lot of free samples and taste! I end up eating a lot of chips, cupcakes and ice cream. My favourite Avocado Ice cream from FIC is there as well and they are giving free samples with any flavours you want!!! I literally came back twice there. There is also some wine tasting for those people who wants to try.

Workshops!

P350 is not bad to pay for a convention because you would learn a lot as well as eat a lot. I cannot wait for my next convention which will be soon! :-)

By Grace Sweet Treats, JB, Malaysia

If you are craving for a unique dessert then By Grace is a perfect place for you, located at 93 Jalan Kuning, Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru, Malaysia they serve a fine dining dessert that is not your typical sweet dessert but a combination of chocolate and sour fruits. I never have thought that such combination could work.

After our dinner in Tsuki Japanese Restaurant, my colleagues decided for a round of dessert. A lot of stories were exchanged during our dessert session. I thought that I know my colleagues very well but then each and everyone of us got to know the other side or quirky side of each and everyone of us.

By Grace, in my opinion is aiming for an Anime or Children ambiance for you could find toys mostly stuff toys and doll house with some anime character toys. It takes you back to your childhood days where there are no iPads or computer games. With this ambiance I think that their food was more on the normal-friendly type of menu but boy was I wrong. The desserts were beautifully plated and like what I have mentioned above it's combination is really good.

They also have main dishes in their menu

I remember my art project during elementary using popsicle sticks

We are all so full now
So the question is. Would I come back? Ofcourse yes! I would definitely come back and bring my friends and loved-ones here. Their dessert is good but I will like to try their main dishes when I come back. This is a place where everybody could chill and talk. This place is one of a kind. :-)

Cupcakes by Sonja, BGC, Philippines

Cupcakes by Sonja has been in BGC for the longest time already. It's one of those stores which is still standing there despite the small space that they have. Eventhough space is limited it is no problem for the people for they buy the cupcakes to enjoy while walking or to take out/take away. But now they are currently serving milkshakes that people could partner with their cupcakes. In addition with this I noticed that they are also offering a combo meal (cupcake + drinks may be coffee or lemonade) which is only P120 to P160.

People keep on coming back to Sonja's because of their lovely and rich cupcakes. It is pricey for me for one cupcake cost about P75 to P110 depending on what flavour you order. In my opinion they do not need to add ala carte  main dishes
in their menu because being known for their delightful cupcakes is already a big thing.

Big things come in small packages. In this case Delicious food come from small spaces
People always come and go no matter what day it is

Cupcakes from P75 to P110

They also custom made cakes and cupcakes for occasions
A more sophisticated choice of cupcakes

Pick your pair!

Death by Chocolate (P105) and Mocha Motion (P85)

My forever baby sister

Death by Chocolate is too Chocolatey for me. I like Chocolates but I'm not a Dark Chocolate lover. The reason why it is called Death Chocolate in my opinion is because it is full blown chewy chocolate with minimal flour and baking powder or soda inside. I love my sister's choice more for it is moist and just have that balanced taste.

Will I come back here? Yes, my mom and sister always come here whenever we are around BGC. :-)

The Filipino Community in Malaysia

Leaving your family and friends in your hometown is hard, but starting a new life in a new country is harder. I am lucky enough to go to a place where people taught me how to live and do things on my own. It was not hard, because they loved me and scolded me as their own little sister. Because of that I didn't even feel any kind of home sickness when I was starting. It might be because of the constant communication with my family or it's just that I feel loved by the people around me.

Ofcourse it's not only the Filipino people who loved and took care of me, my colleagues from my work also treated me very well. Without them I would have not survived and learn a lot.

During my last days in Malaysia, I was very surprised and I didn't even know that a party will happen. I, to tell you the truth, do not have the slightest clue that this would happen. Until now I don't know how they did plan it. I usually use my colleague's laptop (Benedict) if someone is using our desktop and I sometimes could see his emails (but of course I don't read it). So if they have planned it using the email I would have seen or maybe they changed the title into something formal or boring. So anyway when I went back I was surprised to see my colleagues (friends)! It was my second time to have a party like that.

Ok not all are Filipinos. Some are Malaysians and Indonesians

Ate Gen!!!

Ate Gen, Ate Ritchie and Ate Steph

Because it was a very memorable night for me
It was Ate Ritchie and Ate Steph who planned this surprise party for me. They all did cook my favourite dish which I have not enjoyed a lot because of all the happiness that I was feeling that day. They took care of me like their own child. They gave me a lot of advises and love that I will forget.  These two do not know how much I love them so I am saying this now that no matter what nobody could replace you two. :-)
