Arashi Shabu Shabu, Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Angela Kyee Gelena. The person who I am closest to in our department back when I was still in Malaysia. When I got the chance to go back to Malaysia for work, ofcourse I would spend some time with Angela! She suggested Arashi, her current favorite restaurant that time, a Shabu-shabu specialty store that I have visited long time ago with some of my friends Lance, Barney and Stinson.

What I love about this place is the intricate design of the place. One would have mistaken it to be a fine dining place because of the ambiance that it gives you. You do not need to book it in advance for they have quite a number of seats but I guess during the peak season like Chinese New Year, this place would be jammed pack.

I let Angela order as she is the one which loves the food her and I trust her judgment. The typical shabu-shabu was ordered with Miso Soup (I do love Miso soup) and beef & pork for our meat. You might ask what is Shabu-Shabu, to start it up restaurants which serves this would have an electric stove or rather the normal gas type stove where you could heat the soup that you have chosen and put different meats (fish, beef, pork) and vegetables. You are the only one who would decide what you will put inside the soup. After some time when it is already cooked, this is enjoyed with different types of sauces.

Thank you Angela for taking me here again

This bowl contains uncooked vegetables, meat and tofu which you will cook in the pot together with the soup (in our case our favorite Miso Soup)

We decided to add in some noodles for carbs and ofcourse more meat to satisfy our cravings

This is how you do Shabu-Shabu. I could say that Angela is an expert here. Haha

Who wouldn’t love those chandeliers? Each table has its little chandelier and a grand one could be found in the middle of the restaurant

Thank you so much Te for bringing me here. I always enjoy your company!
